(Dressing modestly demonstrates their obedience to God and allows them to be judged on their character and actions and not on their appearance.) this maybe so but i belive the type of "Kanzu"(its called a throbe in English,in kiswahili from the coastal people of east african coastal region its a Kanzu, its a long and flowing) you wear to your place of worship tells alot about you.clothes worn by Muslims are of different styles and colors, and varies according to culture.
I think there are guideline for men's clothing-muslim mens clothing.it covers like the whole body to right below the ankle, i personally prefer for the young adults and older men to have thair kanzus in Black, white or champagne/off-white.The whites for summers and the black for winter(in seasonal countries).
bright colours should be avoided or rather, left for the young kids.
Brown, beige, gold and grey are better left for occasions like weddings and other functions.
To "accessories" the kanzu.. you can have an arafat or an afghan scarf, the "kofia" (small white knitted cap that fits tightly over the head) or instead of the small cap you can choose the agal,a thick, black cord worn on top of the ghutra(a scarf made of cotton or silk, which is folded and worn over the taghia) like a headband to hold the ghutra in place..you can replace the ghutra with different coloured arafat scarves for different looks. To maintain your kanzu you should best dry clean and starch it for it to last long.

I thought it was interesting that modest clothing is meant to hep be judged based on one's character and not one's appearence. I certainly see how that helps for women but all of these men where fashionably dressed and looked like handsome princes, one of which was getting out of a lambourgini. I'm sure men will find other ways to be judged other than their looks. Men are judged more on status, wealth, and influence than their appearence anyway.
ReplyDeleteMerci belle. i appreciate your comment. This men all look like princes😊 and for them, anything they wear would certainly look good on them.. so the judgment part may not apply when they are just up and about, but when they go to masjid with everyone else, they certainly all look equal dressed in this robes.
DeleteAnd for ladies and their abaya/dishdasha(in some countries),some actually add all sorts of decorations on them, adding belts or making their robes to fit and letting hair down from their hijabs, certainly moving away from custom and the sole purpose of it. In the end,if the abaya/dishdasha's and Khimar/burqa/hijabs are worn modestly & correctly then it would certainly help us "judge based on one's character and not one's appearance" i suppose ☻
